Heritage Garden

Lap up the atmosphere within the walls of our historical site – full of interesting features and beautiful plants.

Heritage Garden at Chantry Walled Garden

If you would like to garden in a historic setting and enjoy learning about plants and welcoming members of the public, then you will enjoy volunteering in our walled garden.

This Grade II listed site, once upon a time the vegetable garden of the mansion in Chantry Park, is full of interesting historic features – and we have added some of our own more modern ones too, developing a garden especially for people with disabilities as part of a “dry garden” project inspired by famous plantswoman Beth Chatto.

Here, you can help maintain our flower borders, get involved in growing heritage vegetables, and tend plants in our nursery.

It’s a great place to learn more and develop plant knowledge, as well as contributing your own skills and know-how.

Please get in touch with Susannah on 07530 407302 or email susannah@activlives.org.uk to find out more.

Chantry Walled Garden

A beautiful heritage walled garden and plant nursery, open to the public. Here, we offer volunteering and work experience opportunities, and have a garden especially designed for people with disabilities to carry on gardening!
