ActivLives ‘Friday Friends’ CoordinatorI left school after my A’Levels and worked in the City of London as a PA for 5 years. I then went to University as a mature student and gained a First Class degree in Business Studies, also qualifying as a Human Resources (HR) professional. I then worked for the next 9 years in various human resources roles as a HR Manager, before having my twin children. In 2001, I qualified as a vegetarian chef with a Cordon Vert Diploma from the Vegetarian Society and had my own cookery school for a short while. During that time, I also gained a certificate in teaching adults. Since my children were born and moved to Suffolk, I have done various part-time and interesting roles, including being a Clerk to School Governing bodies, a Clerk to a local charity, working at Suffolk Libraries, a Marriage Registrar/Celebrant and as an HR Advisor to a number of Suffolk Schools. I also support my husband in our own Consultancy business. In the last few years, I also volunteered at the Waveney Foodbank setting up a distribution centre in my local area. My interest in Dementia has come about as the result of personal experience. I am very excited to be setting up and running a Cafe especially for people with dementia and their carers in NW Ipswich. The cafe aims to support those people in the community at a time in their lives that can be very lonely and isolating. In my spare time I like to run (not very fast!), cook for my family and friends, spend time with my family (including my two cats) and last year I took up quilting as a hobby!
