A big win for local charity, ActivLives, at the recently concluded Active Suffolk Awards 2024. The CEO of ActivLives, Julie Stokes, has won the Activity Champion of the Year award and its exercise programme BreatheFit received a Runner Up recognition.
Julie Stokes won the category for leading the charity in over a decade and for proving that women can lead and make a big difference in the sector by advocating and implementing programmes and services that promote physical and mental wellbeing in Suffolk through an inclusive sports and effective chair-based exercise programmes.
Her leadership was recognised for conducting sports activities and physical exercises that benefit young and older people with mental health needs and learning disabilities in the county. The Awards also commended her for encouraging people from all walks of life to get involved in the community.
Meanwhile, ActivLives, BreatheFit programme in Felixstowe and Ipswich was a Runner Up awardee for The Innovative Project of the Year for helping people with respiratory conditions to improve their physical health by participating in regular weekly sessions. It was also recognised for creating a community with its members that helped boost their social and mental wellbeing.
The Active Suffolk Awards is an annual event that honours the best of Suffolk’s sporting talent and celebrating people and organisations that supported local communities through physical activity & sport.
