Inclusive Badminton
Badminton is a very inclusive sport. These sessions are aimed particularly at adult participants who have an intellectual (learning) disability (Minimum age 16).
If you would like to get involved with the great game of badminton, then this group could be for you. It’s the fastest racket sport in the world but don’t worry, we usually take a bit of time when we play! We start each session with a group warm up, just to help to loosen up and to prepare us for the session. Then we have a go at some skills practices, we also try to improve our tactical awareness – really important in badminton! We follow this with plenty of games – doubles and singles.
All of the equipment is provided, so don’t worry if you don’t have your own racket. The sessions are led by a Badminton England Licensed Coach, with the support of some excellent volunteers.
These sessions are delivered in partnership with Special Olympics Suffolk. Participants, who are eligible, can access Special Olympics competitions at regional and national level, through regular participation with this group..
£4.50 per session. Local bus route and off-road parking available.
ActivBadminton
This session is aimed at adults of any age who would like to have a go at the great game of badminton. It’s the fastest racket sport in the world but don’t worry, we usually take our time when we play! We start each session with a warm up together as a group, just to loosen up and to prepare for the session. Then we have a go at one or two practices (we are all keen to improve a little, if we can), we then play plenty of games, usually doubles but we do sometimes have a game of singles (very energetic!).
All of the equipment is provided, so don’t worry if you don’t have your own racket. The session is led by a Badminton England Licensed Coach.
We are not a club – but we are a very friendly group who love to play badminton. Beginners, as well as those who haven’t played since their school days, are particularly welcome.
£5.00 per session – please bring your own drink and be changed ready to play as we don’t currently have access to changing facilities.
Local bus route and off-road parking available.
Short Tennis & Ping Pong
This session is a combination of Ping Pong and Short Tennis. Most of the group rotate between both sports – its great fun. Most of us have played Ping Pong at some point (although maybe not since Youth Club!). Short Tennis is an adapted version of Lawn Tennis, played on a badminton court with a low net, a softer, slower ball and an adapted racket. It’s how Bjorn Borg first learnt to play – do you remember him?
We are not a club, but we are a group of people who love to play a bit of sport and to enjoy each other’s company. The session is run by one of our experienced Session Facilitators.
We provide all of the equipment so don’t worry about bringing anything. Just wear comfortable, loose clothing and a pair of gym shoes/trainers. As with all of our sessions, beginners are very welcome to come along. No need to book.
£5.00 per session.
Local bus route and off-road parking available.
We always welcome new participants – If you would like more information about this, or any of our other ActivSport groups, please call us on 01473 345350 or email mike@activlives.org.uk
We would love to hear from you!
