What is ActivLives? 

ActivLives is a local independent charity working in Ipswich and across Suffolk to keep people active, connected and involved with their local community through accessible sports and exercise, learning new skills and volunteering opportunities.

Everyday Activ Hubs

ActivHubs was set up to provide a fun and social way for people to keep fit and healthy, improve strength, balance and
co-ordination, reduce stress and while doing all of that, make some new friends in the process!

Everyday Activ Ipswich

ActivLives and Ipswich Borough Council, are motivating and inspiring people 45 years and over to increase their physical activity, eat more healthily and become more involved with the community.

Everyday Activ Gardens

ActivGardens are all about growing! Growing plants. Growing fresh healthy food. Growing yourself… your fitness, your health, your skills, your friends, your community. Get active with ActivGardens!

Everyday Activ Suffolk

ActivSuffolk provides local Sport and Falls Prevention sessions out in the rural areas of Suffolk, keeping people aged 60 years and over active, connected, happy, independent and reducing social isolation.

Everyday Activ Singing

The Keep On Rockin’ members have achieved a sustainable singing group through weekly member support, fundraising and regular performances.

We’ve put together this video to show you what we do, and how we can help you.

Whether it’s improving your balance at one of our hubs, learning about horticulture at one of our gardens, finding your voice in our Keep On Rockin’ singing group, or simply meeting new friends at one of our lunch clubs.

NEW YOGA SESSION!

Yoga is a form of exercise which is non-competitive, it is designed to develop a
feeling of total well-being. If you haven’t tried it before, come and give it a go!
This session is for men & women and is aimed particularly at people new to yoga.
Yoga mats will be provided. These classes can be completed sitting in a chair.
Led by a fully qualified instructor (British Wheel of Yoga)
Spaces are limited, so please book to reserve your place.
£6.00 per session. Refreshments will be provided after the session.
Pre-booking is advised for these classes. (Minimum 48 hours notice is required for cancellations)

ActivIpswich is a community–based sports programme. It is a partnership between ActivLives and Ipswich Borough Council and is funded by the National Lottery as part of Sport England’s Community Sport Activation Fund.

Our programmes are particularly targeted at those who are 45 years of age and over. We welcome all new participants. Don’t worry about your playing standard – we are a project that provides for all levels of ability.

The emphasis is very much upon the social as well as the physical benefits that can be gained from getting involved with regular physical activity.

Many of our participants have either a long term health condition and/or a disability (35-40%). We tend to deliver slightly unusual sports in community venues, so please give us a look even you have never thought of yourself as being particularly ‘sporty’ – You might surprise yourself!

Chantry Walled Garden is a heritage walled garden in a public park, with flower borders and vegetable-growing areas, as well as extensive glasshouses as part of our plant nursery.  Our base is cosy Nursery Cottage, where there is an accessible courtyard garden with raised beds for wheelchair users. The adjacent workshop has facilities for woodwork and basic construction. In this garden you can learn skills relevant to the horticultural industry as well as enjoy maintaining a garden full of history.

Every Tuesday and Thursday we hold a plant sale, where we sell plants we’ve grown in the garden to help fund the project.
