BEGINNER BEEKEEPING WITH ACTIVGARDENS
We run friendly open sessions for people who would like to find out what beekeeping is all about and perhaps get involved on a regular basis.
If you would like to find out more about beekeeping, why not come along to our open sessions. This will give you excellent knowledge of bees and hands-on experience of how to keep them. Once you have gained confidence, you can borrow a suit and have a go yourself.
To get a feel what it takes to handle bees, you can observe the hive being opened and checked from the safety of our hide. If you like what you see, you can borrow a suit and shadow our bee-keepers. If you would like to learn more, you can participate in a course run by the local beekeeping association, and become part of our team. This means you will be on the priority list for a share in the honey!
To book your place at an open session, please contact Susannah on 07530 407302 or email email@example.com or call ActivLives on 01473 345350.
UPCOMING BEE-KEEPING SESSIONS
These are usually on Mondays at 11am – please phone ahead. Meet at the community garden green cabin.
ADOPT – A – BEE
We have 400,000 bees in our hives – and they’re all up for adoption!
By adopting a bee, you’re helping support people of all abilities to get involved in beekeeping and the natural world, while improving and maintaining an urban area for the benefit of wildlife.
