ActivLives

The Ipswich-based charity ActivLives launched a new campaign Building Healthier, Connected Communities in Suffolk on the 1st of October.

What is the campaign?

ActivLives is seeking support to raise £100,000 to continue its fight against loneliness and social isolation and improve people’s physical and mental health and wellbeing living in Ipswich, East Suffolk & Babergh. The organisation is seeking 1,000 people, local companies, groups, individuals etc to donate £100 or more (or what people can afford) to help them reach their target by December 2025.

Why It Matters?

Suffolk has an ageing population. One in three people will be aged 65 years and over by 2043. Isolation, loneliness and lack of physical activities affect thousands of younger and older adults, carers, people living with a disability or long-term health condition, people with mental health needs and marginalised groups living in Suffolk. Due to increasing costs and reduced funding support locally, regionally and nationally, ActivLives aims to continue to deliver activities, develop new projects and enable people to be active, remain independent, have a good quality of life, give people a purpose and feel valued citizens in their community.

Why Support the Campaign?

As a local grassroots charity, ActivLives has been bringing people together and helping communities stay active and connected for nearly 20 years. ActivLives delivers over 50 weekly health and wellbeing activities including: Strength, Balance and Co-ordination exercise, Seated / Dance exercise, Inclusive Sport, three Community Gardens and an ActivShed, Specialist Hubs for people living with Dementia and their carers, Men’s Hubs, a Lunch Club, Volunteering opportunities and a Carers project for existing and former carers.
