Experienced Cook – Lunch Club (Paid post)
ActivLives is looking for a reliable and experienced cook to lead our friendly community lunch club, preparing nutritious, home-cooked meals for older adults.
About the role
You will plan, prepare, and serve simple, traditional healthy lunches in a welcoming community setting. The role is ideal for someone who enjoys cooking from scratch, working with people, and contributing to a positive social environment.
Key responsibilities
- Plan varied, balanced weekly menus
- Prepare and cook meals for groups (approx. 15–30 people)
- Cater for dietary requirements (e.g. vegetarian, diabetic, allergies)
- Maintain high standards of food hygiene and kitchen safety
- Weekly shop and basic budgeting
- Work alongside volunteers to support meal service
About you
- Proven experience cooking for groups or in a similar setting
- Good knowledge of food hygiene and safe food handling
- Food Safety Level 2 certificate – training can be arranged
- Organised, reliable, and able to work independently
- Friendly and approachable, with a passion for community work
- Able to create nutritious, cost-effective meals
