ActivLives Chantry Walled Garden is holding a Christmas Coffee Morning and plant sale on Thursday 1 December 2016 from 10.30am until 2.30pm.
There will be pansies galore to brighten up the winter months, and primroses to welcome in the Spring, available in trays or hanging baskets.
There will also be decorations made by participants of ‘Branching Out – Growing Together’, a project for older people living in the Chantry Area, funded by HealthIntend through The Health Lottery.
A selection of homemade cakes, tea, coffee and soft drinks will be served by volunteers of the project.
· With your support we have renovated a neglected walled garden into a thriving community hub, growing plants for Ipswich right in the heart of the town while providing volunteering opportunities, building skills, and bringing people together.
Our Christmas Coffee Morning will be a chance for you to see the development of our wheelchair-accessible garden for older people, funded by Tesco ‘Bags of Help’. Residents of the Sue Ryder Neurological Care Centre, in Chantry Park, garden with us. We hope residents of Park View Care Home, on London Road, will join us soon. Gardening is known to have beneficial effects for people suffering Dementia and other conditions such as stroke – stimulating memory and improving fine motor skills.
We need more volunteers to help with gardening and helping other people. Please call ActivGardens Development Manager Susannah Robirosa on 01473 345350 if you would like to get involved on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
For parking for the Christmas Coffee Morning – please enter Chantry Park from Hadleigh Road, turning right at top of driveway as you face the Mansion. Then park in the public car park and follow the signs to the event. For disabled access, please call 07530 407302 in advance.
