This is proving to be a very sporty summer what with the Euro Football in France, the Olympics and Paralympics in Rio and of course the very first ActivLives Community Games being held on Saturday 30th July at the Maidenhall Sports Centre in Ipswich at 1pm – 5:30pm
This will be a multi – sport event with opportunities to play kurling, badminton, boccia, bowls, table tennis, walking netball and football and short tennis. We hope that these games will draw upon the true Olympian spirit – no not Athens and de Coubertin, but a small town in Shropshire called Much Wenlock where the Wenlock Olympian Games were first held in 1850 (46 years before the first modern Olympics in Athens).
The ActivLives Community Games will give people who are over the age of 50 and who don’t consider themselves to be particularly sporty, an opportunity to have a go at, and to compete in a variety of fun sports events. For many this will be the first time that they have taken part in a ‘sports day’ since their school days!
If you would like to find out more about taking part please contact Mike on 01473 345350 or email mike@activlives.org.uk
