Adopt-A-Bee

A campaign to help keep our bees buzzing!

We have 400,000 bees up for adoption!
Help us reach that target!

By adopting a bee you’re helping us to provide integral services in the local community.
Adopt-A-Bee for you or a friend at one of our hives at The People’s Community Garden in Ipswich.

You’ll also have the opportunity to come and see our hives first hand….and you might even bump into your bee!

So, why would you want to adopt a bee? Firstly – bee’s are important, and need to be looked after. Also, all money raised through the ‘Adopt-A-Bee’ programme will help fund ActivLives, and let us continue our mission of supporting and empowering people to improve their health and well-being, create and connect people with their community and provide new learning and volunteering opportunities.

If you have any queries, or would like to find out how you can adopt your very own bee – please give us a call on 01473 345350 or email cynthia@activlives.org.uk

Beginner Beekeeping with ActivGardens & the ‘Adopt-A-Bee’ Bees!

We run beginner bee-keeping courses for people who would like get started and/ or join our Bee Team of community bee-keepers. Please register your interest and we will let you know when the next course is running.

If you are a beginner or improver-beekeeper, or would like to see what it takes to keep bees, do come along to our apiary opening sessions.

This will give you excellent hands-on experience of what it is to open and manipulate hives, keep them in a healthy condition, and – hopefully – collect honey. It is a chance for less-experienced beekeepers to ask questions of the more experienced. Once you are confident, you can borrow a suit and have a go yourself.
