Members of the association will be opening the hives every Saturday, with ActivHives’ Bee Team, to enable beginners and improvers to get some hands-on experience and turn theory into practice.

ActivHives was formed at the People’s Community Garden two years ago, with support from Transforming Suffolk Community Fund, to train up a new generation of bee-keepers and to keep the bees buzzing.

We now have two healthy hives and have developed a wildflower meadow with local schools and volunteers.

Enthusiastic bee-keepers, or those who would like to get an idea of what bee-keeping is about before they commit to it, are welcome to attend the free Saturday sessions. If you would like to get involved, please call Susannah on 07530 407302 or email Susannah@activlives.org.uk. IESBKA members should get in touch with Jeremy Quinlan on 01473 737700 or email JeremyQ@tiscali.co.uk
