All of our Thursday mornings at the Elderflower hub are a pleasure to run however last week was a very special one…….
We celebrated the birthday of one of our members Mary who turned 100! What an honour it was to share this eventful day with her. It was great to hear the room filled with laughter and to watch members laugh and dance together.
We asked Mary the secret behind reaching 100, she told us we must worry less, drink in moderation and do not smoke, wise words to us all.
Mary served in the second world war working with the royal artillery regiment. She said the biggest changes she has seen over the last few decades are fashion, music and technology.
We were very lucky to be entertained by the wonderful Andy Otley who pays tribute to Elvis Presley. The group loved his melodic tones, and we had a good sing along to well know favourites. One of our lovely volunteers made Mary a delicious birthday cake and she was surrounded by cards, flowers and gifts on this special occasion.
