Subway eat fresh US&CN [Converted]In March 2014, with a healthy heart grant received from Heart Research UK and SUBWAY, ActivLives launched the first ‘Learn 2 Nordic Walking’ courses aimed at those completely new to the Nordic Walking technique.

Due to the success of these courses ActivLives is about to launch the next phase of the programme which will see taster sessions and beginners courses running throughout July & September.

This form of exercise is becoming increasingly popular and provides a great opportunity for people of all ages to improve heart health, increase strength, stamina and reduce stress, as well as providing a fantastic opportunity to socialise with others.

There are many benefits to this activity with one of the main being that Nordic Walking uses 90% of your major muscles, so it’s good for the heart and the upper body gets toned as well as the legs and bottom.

One participant gave this feedback – “This is a fun and sociable activity. I am not so young anymore, and the poles help to take the pressure off my knees and joints so I can walk a lot further!”

In order to gain maximum benefit from Nordic Walking it is essential you learn the correct technique from a qualified Nordic Walking UK Instructor. So if you want to find out more before committing to a course, why not try a taster session first. Equipment is provided.

Courses will be held in Woodbridge, Ipswich, Stowmarket & Woolpit. Please call for dates.

Taster sessions are being held at:

  • Woodbridge – Tues 1st July 1.30pm – 2.30pm – Kingston Playing Fields
  • Ravenswood – Weds 2nd July 10am – 11am – Behind the Children’s Centre
  • ChristchurchPark – Thurs 3rd July 2pm – 3pm – The Reg Driver Centre
