The Special Olympics World Games, held recently in Berlin, provided one of the largest inclusive sports events ever held, with 7,000 athletes, 3,000 Coaches and 18,000 Volunteers. Special Olympics is sport targeted at athletes with an intellectual (learning) disability. Special Olympics Suffolk were represented on Team GB by three medal winning gymnasts (Grace, Simon and Jack), and coaches Ellen and Alex.

ActivLives also played a part with our own badminton regulars Ed Boggis, Lizzie Reid and Mike McCarthy, working as part of the volunteer team at the badminton events.

Many congratulations to all of those who were involved with an event that has provided a benchmark for future Special Olympics World Games. www.berlin2023.org/en
