The ActivLives Inclusive Badminton Tournament was held recently at Gainsborough Sports Centre in Ipswich. The event, delivered in partnership with Special Olympics Suffolk, was a tremendous success with 27 competitors from inclusive groups in Suffolk and Wimbledon.
The format consisted of four divisions, where players competed in doubles and singles groups in a round-robin format. The day concluded with a team relay event, with all of the players involved.
“The response to this tournament has been brilliant. It is great to see so many people, with a learning disability, getting involved with the sport of badminton in Suffolk”, said Mike McCarthy, ActivSport Development Officer.
Many thanks to our brilliant team of volunteers and also to our supporting partners Special Olympics Suffolk, Special Olympics GB, Suffolk Community Foundation Sports Fund and the Postcode Places Trust.
